This week I find myself in New York City a place I once lived in, came of age in, lost my last bit of innocence in.
Returning nearly 20 years later, seeing Sunsets & Sunrises through sober eyes is remarkable.
Running these streets again, I find myself able to breathe again, shaking off the dust of the destruction of my former life, and finding myself once again.
And I like & embrace that self. It’s like Michaelangelo stating that he simply carved the rock away from the statue that was already trapped within it. That’s how I feel. Shattered and restored all at once.
Hemingway wrote: “The World breaks everyone, and after that many are string in the broken places.” I love that. I lived that, as do we all.
I have purposely used the word ONCE several times in the paragraphs above.
I saw my first Broadway show ON Broadway this week. ONCE, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for best musical, is based on the film by the same name.
I adored the movie, it ranks in my top 10, and like the musical, is “the little story that could.”
A sweet, funny, charming and unabashedly romantic tale of an Irish street musician and the Czech girl who inspires him to great heights in his life & art. It’s core message is TAKE CHANCES, FORGET FEAR, FOLLOW YOUR HEART.
And to that I say HERE, HERE. Indeed.
Enjoy these pictures I have taken while in The City. They are a testament to God’s will and vision for my life being far greater than any I can even imagine.
Once I used to think that but now?
I believe it.
